The Hall of Mercy is dedicated to the Guanyin Buddha of the South China Sea, the Bodhisattvas of the Thousand Hands and Guanyin Bodhisattva, the Buddha of Buddha, the Amitabha Buddha, and the Maitreya Buddha. Guanyin, also known as Guanyin Bodhisattva, and Guanyin Goddess, are regarded as goddess of great mercy and compassion in Buddhism and the public. The annual lunar calendar nineteen day of the second month 19 (Birthday), nineteen day of the sixth month (Enlightenment Day) and nineteen day of the ninth month (Nirvana Day) are commonly celebrated as Guanyin birthdays by many worshippers.
In the realms of the gods, the Jade Emperor is referred to as the First God with the highest power. The Jade Emperor is known by many names, including Heavenly Grandfather (天公, Tiān Gōng), the Jade Lord or the Great Emperor of Jade. Situated on the highest level, there is an incense burner, devotees should pray with incense right in from of the Jade Emperor before placing these incense in the burner.
With the grand opening ceremony on the seventh day of the fourth lunar month in 2013, we had the honour of Dr Lim Wee Kiak and San Lian Deng Temple legal consultants Mr Raymond Yeoh and Ms Constance Paglar, amongst other guest to officiate the ceremony. Exclusively on the second floor of the temple, columbarium and ancestral tablet are now available for orders and immediate placements. Each URN compartment is tactfully designed with auspicious elements of Fengshui, complemented with daily mantras and change of refreshments, worshippers will find this a peaceful and calming environment for offerings and blessings. Divus Guan God commonly known as Guan Yu is the governing God of the Temple of the Gods Hall. The hall is found on level 3 and its divided into the front and the back. In the front of the hall, amongst Divus Guan God, one will also find Monkey God, Jigong the Living Buddha, Third Lotus Prince aka Neza, Earth God and Grandmother, Eighteen Arhats, Sudhanakumâra mainly known as Sudhana, Dragon Daughter, Tua Pek Gong, Tiger God, Zhang Gong Sheng Jun, Stone God, Eight Immortals and many more. At the back of this hall, it is enshrined with Gods that controls the underworld, often ruling the two kingdoms of earth and hell, including Netherworld God of Wealth, Paofu Daren, Dua Ah Peh, Di Ah Peh, The Judge, Ox Head and Horse Face General. In the front corner of the front hall, there is a wine bar filled with wines, spirits and beer for Jigong, the Living Buddha. The Living Buddha of Jigong is also known as the economic epileptic monk. Originally known as Li Xiuyuan, the Buddhist name was Daoji. He was a senior scholar of the Southern Song Dynasty and was a native of Yongning Village in Tiantai County. Jigong Living Buddha became a monk in Lingyin Temple, Hangzhou, and later lived in Jingci Temple. He was not restrained by the commandment. He was not particularly interested in meditation, enjoys wine and meat, and had a humorous language. He was often disheveled and walks around with a broken fan. He was a consummate medical practitioner, knowledgeable, and compassionate.
